Ammann Highlights Blueprint for Sustainable Asphalt Production as Asia Accelerates Infrastructure Transformation

Taiwan demonstration project offers practical lessons for road builders and infrastructure stakeholders across Southeast Asia


As countries across Asia continue investing in transport connectivity, urban development and climate- resilient infrastructure, the construction industry faces a growing challenge: how to build at scale while reducing environmental impact. For global road construction equipment manufacturer Ammann, the answer lies in combining advanced technology, operational efficiency and sustainability principles throughout the infrastructure lifecycle.

This vision was recently demonstrated through the transformation of YongLi Group's Tainan Syuejia Plant in Taiwan, which has been developed as a model for environmentally responsible asphalt production and smart infrastructure development. The facility showcases how asphalt producers and road construction stakeholders can integrate innovative technologies, automation and sustainability- focused practices to improve operational performance while supporting broader environmental objectives. 

The project reflects a growing shift taking venue across Asia, where governments, contractors and infrastructure developers are increasingly seeking solutions that balance economic growth with long- term sustainability goals.

At the Tainan Syuejia facility, YongLi Group has implemented several advanced technologies designed to modernise traditional construction processes, including AI- powered automation systems, our proprietary patented technologies—such as the cooling transport truck and advanced paving systems—which significantly enhance road smoothness and reduce construction time as well as other innovative operational practices aimed at improving efficiency and reducing resource consumption. The transformation also extends beyond production capabilities. The site incorporates environmental design features, including vertical greening systems and community-oriented public art installations, demonstrating how industrial facilities can evolve into more sustainable and socially integrated spaces. 

For rapidly developing economies such as Indonesia and Thailand, the project offers a practical example of how infrastructure stakeholders can embed sustainability considerations into future construction and road- building projects. 

Across Southeast Asia, governments are prioritising investments in highways, logistics corridors, urban mobility networks and strategic infrastructure developments. At the same time, pressure is mounting on the construction sector to reduce emissions, improve resource efficiency and adopt more sustainable operating practices.
